OK Go to headline Oct. 12 Discover Louisville Festival and ear x-tacy Concert at UofL

OK Go will headline the first Discover Louisville Festival and ear x-tacy Concert Oct. 12 at the University of Louisville. Sponsored by UofL, its students and area businesses, the festival and concert are free and open to the public.

The outdoor festival and concert begins at 6 p.m. on the Grawemeyer Hall Oval on Third Street just north of Eastern Parkway. Free parking is available in a UofL lot on Third Street, just south of Eastern Parkway and across from Reynolds Loft condominiums.

The Discover Louisville Festival will introduce UofL students to local businesses while opening Belknap Campus to the community. Businesses will staff information and product booths. Music begins at 7 p.m. OK Go will follow two opening acts.

OK Go is a Grammy Award-winning band which formed in the late 1990s in Chicago. They have released three full length records, toured the world and released numerous viral videos that have been viewed by millions. Their treadmill video for the song, “Here It Goes Again,” from their second release, has been viewed more than 52 million times. Currently, the band is touring in support of its latest album, “Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky,” which was released in January. Already this year, the band has formed its own label, Paracadute, released three viral video smashes, including the Rube Goldberg Machine video for the song, “This Too Shall Pass,” and have won a Webby Award for “Film and Video Artist of The Year.” Spin Magazine calls “Of Blue Coulour of The Sky” “ambitious” and “blissful.” And the UK’s NME calls the cd “a quick hit of quirky, optimistic big band pop.”

The festival and concert are presented by ear-x-tacy, 91.9 WFPK, the Louisville Independent Business Alliance, UofL Student Government Association, UofL Student Activities Board and UofL’s Office of the President. The concert is produced by Production Simple LLC.
